Cleaning Out The Closet

There is something amazingly freeing about laying everything at the foot of the cross. Even though God knows everything, so He already knows all the sin that is in your life, He still waits and wants for you to come to him with it. And when you do finally come, after trying everything on your own, He is standing there with open arms waiting to grab you and hold you close, and to take it all away. To take your pain and sorrow and anguish, and replace it with a peace and joy that can only come from Him.

"...He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet upon a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord."
Psalm 40:1-3 NIV

A Little Peeve Of Mine

This post is about a little pet peeve of mine. It is about something in life that I find slightly infuriating. It is when a person (like a parent) make decisions for another person (like an adult child), without consulting them, stating it is in the other persons best interest, and not having a clue what that person might really want. (Sorry about the run-on sentence). I can stand it when it is made as a suggestion of what the person might want, but not when they make it a statement of fact.

If you know the person, you can make an educated guess as to what they may want, but it is not guaranteed to be right. However, when you don't really know the person, or don't chose to really know the person, then it really irks me when people decide what you want without asking you.

Argh!

It's True...

It is very true what they say, you don't really miss something till it is gone. Take for example the hugs of a loved one. Not getting one for a couple of days is mildly uncomfortable, when compared to the knowledge that you aren't going to see them for 21 days. It really makes you feel blessed when you do have the person around.

I guess the point I am trying to make is this: Get all the hugs you can when the person is around...cause you don't know how long till you get your next "fix", so to speak...

Stay tuned for more random thoughts, at random times of the day... ;-)

Finding Joy in the Smallest Things...

Today I got to talk with my girlfriend who is on a 3 week missions trip to Ecuador. I have not had a chance to talk to her since she left almost a week ago, and tonight, hearing her voice over the telephone from all those miles away, it made my heart sore.

I think it is so cool that the human heart can take such pure joy from such little things. How nothing more then holding the hand of a loved one can send you over the moon. Or hearing their voice after not seeing them for a few days can make you feel like a kid in a toy store.

This really shouldn't be that much of a surprise though...I mean human beings were never meant to be alone...it is not how we were created. But it is so cool to see examples of this in your relationship with your significant other.
